Becky’s Arm Part 1: Eric Carle, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”

When Becky found out that Eric Carle would be visiting from the keys to autograph stock at Books & Books, she joked that she was going to have him draw The Very Hungry Caterpillar on her arm so she could go and get it tattooed.  Surrounded by all his work, and meeting the sweet and engaging Eric Carle, Becky decided it shouldn’t be a joke.

Becky’s best friend – no stranger to tattoos herself – took her to Tattoos by Lou where she met artist, veteran, and football fan Dicky Magoo.  On the way out, her best friend suggested that Becky get a whole sleeve of children’s book characters.  As rare as book enthusiasts are in the general population, that’s nearly how rare children’s book enthusiasts are in the bookseller population.  Becky instantly fell in love with the idea.

A living legend, Eric Carle got her project started off perfectly.
